Tiny House Cluster – Who’s Next Competition Entry
My entry to the Free Green Who’s Next Competition is probably the only one that includes tiny houses. It’s a cluster for 4 small houses clustered around a courtyard. The public voting ends on March 17th. If you like it, please give me a vote. The winning concept will be turned into a set of plans available at FreeGreen.com.
Taliesin Shelters
These amazing little buildings were created by students of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture and if you’re ever in the area of Taliesin West you can take the Desert Shelter Tour and get a close-up look. I first saw this on Shedworking.
Earthbag Glorieta
Kelly Hart posted the story behind the earthbag house that’s featured in the header of his blog, Earthbag Building Blog. It’s a Glorieta, a glorified gazebo of sorts, that was built during a workshop back in 2003 in Crestone, Colorado. Local materials, including the dirt around the house, was used to construct this little building.
Rapid Deployment Structures
Codding Steel and Bill Kastrinos (Tortoise Shell Home) collaborated on this prototype for a low cost prefab metal and wood building system that could be used in disaster situations.
Tiny Yellow House – Episode 1
Derek “Deek” Diedricksen is starting to put together a regular television-like online show focused on tiny houses. The first episode features his tiny Hickshaw. You can learn more about Deek and this house at his blog, RelaxShax.
The Shepherd’s Rest
The Shepherd’s Rest, located in the UK, builds shepherds huts similar to those that were used for centuries in rural England. These are built with new materials and to a very high level of quality.
Command Post
While this little command post at a Marina in France is not a house, it reminded me of fire tower-like tiny houses. Not exactly a warm and rustic timber frame fire tower but for those who like concrete and steel, a really nicely done little building.
Ecospace – Extreme Tiny House Luxury
Here’s a tiny house for those who crave luxury and have the money to afford it. It costs about $55,000 and features a green roof, SIP (structural insulated panel) construction, and environmentally friendly building materials. Ecospace is located in London.
