The Swamp Hut
I love this tiny house! I had a similar idea that I posted on Tiny House Design a while back that I called the Shed Cluster Concept. I don’t know if that post inspired these folks to build The Swamp Hut but it sure is inspiring to see something so similar complete.
DIY Rammed Earth Manual Available: March 1, 2010
Michael Thompson, the rammed earth home builder, will be releasing a book on March 1, 2010. This is sure to be an excellent resource for anyone considering building their own rammed earth home.
Haiti House
Here’s an interesting housing solution, a flat pack home that measures 7′ 6″ wide by 18′ 6″ long. It’s lightweight and has a strong steel structure. One of the coolest features is that it sets up in 15 minutes without power tools. Thanks for the tip David!
Coyote Cottage for sale
I was sad to see that the Coyote Cottage is for sale, but then again, I can’t blame the owners for choosing to move back to a more urban place.
I wrote about this remote off-the-grid homestead back in October 2008 on Tiny House Design. If you’re considering a big move back to the land you might want to take a closer look at this little place. Thanks for the tip Eva!
House Arc
This is a wonderful new tiny house system by Joseph Bellomo. This prototype is 150 square feet, weights 3000 pounds, and can be flat packed in a package that measures only 4′ by 10′ by 3′.
Spontaneous Architecture Challenge: Rebuild Haiti
Designers are uniting to come up with ideas for rebuilding Haiti. This competition is not just focused on architecture though, they are looking at the big picture from infrastructure to institutions.
Jøtul F 602 CB
I’ve been doing some research on small wood stoves. This little stove by Jøtul keeps popping up as a popular model. It generally costs less than $1000 and is an good size for a small house.
Most recently I learned that Brian (a.k.a. Ziggy) is considering it as a replacement for his handmade cob rocket stove. If any one has an experience with the Jøtul F 602 CB, I’d love to hear your first hand feedback.
IKEA Modular Dwellings on Tour
I’m looking forward to seeing these prefab houses in person when they come to my town. I’ll definitely be posting photos on Tiny House Design mid-March.
