Tiny House Living is a weekly newsletter that is published every Friday morning. We cover the world of tiny houses and simple & sustainable living.

There are so many great stories lately that I’m having trouble getting them all posted here and on Tiny House Design. I’m posting the overflow stories to our Tiny House Design Facebook Page. You can also Follow us on Twitter and as always Subscribe by Email.

land by tammy rowdykittensThe January 2010 issue of Small Living Journal will focus on the topic of Finding Land for Living. I posted a survey and that’s what readers told us they wanted to read about next.

Ironically I ran into three articles on other blogs recently on this very topic and thought this would be an ideal moment to share them with you.

bills tiny houseBill is building a tiny house based on one of my tiny house designs. You can download the free house plans at Tiny House Design. He’s building the 8×16 Solar House.

He posted a bunch of photos of the interior work recently on Facebook and it’s looking great. Eventually Bill plans to move his tiny house up to Alaska (from California) and spend some time chilling out.

octagonal houseI got a note from a fellow named Salman the other day. He’s been exploring some extreme tiny house design and came up with this clever octagonal house design. It’s nice to see some out of the box thinking and design.

dignity villageI’ve written about Dignity Village in the past on Tiny House Design but wanted to share an update I stumbled on this past week. This is a community of tiny houses located outside Portland, Oregon built and maintained by a group of people working hard to find their own solutions for homelessness. Really inspiring story and place.

Habitat for ArtistsThis is an interesting project run by Simon Draper. It’s a funky little tiny house artist community. You can read the whole story on Simon’s website. Here’s a short quote that summarizes the project:

Draper, who has long been working with concepts regarding habitat/shelter in his own art practice will provide each artist with a basic 6 ft. by 6 ft. shed, to be considered as an artist’s habitat/workspace for the duration of the art fair. The artist will inhabit this simple and temporary structure and use the space to create art works or turn the structure into an artwork prior to and during the time of the fair.

english cottageOne of my regular readers ran across this fantastic photo album of old English ruins. Many of the photos are of very large structures but tucked here and there are some incredible tiny huts and cottages. Thanks again Dav!

Guodros Medis log cabinI was recently introduced to this tiny house builder in Lithuania. They sell many small log homes that can serve as wooden summerhouses, garden houses, chalets, garages, and saunas. Using Google Translate you can read their website in English (although for some reason the images get turned off).
