YES! – Tiny Free House
YES! gave me an opportunity to share my Tiny Free House story in an article on their website. You can follow along with the tiny free pallet house I’m building at TinyFreeHouse.com.
Free Floating Tiny House
Brian at I Stock House Plans sent a link to this free floating tiny tender house in Portland, Oregon. The ad appears on craigslist. Just in case the ad gets removed I took a screenshot and added it below. It’s amazing what people give away on craigslist. Thanks for the tip Brian!
Tiny Free House Update
I spent another two days up at the family farm working on my Tiny Free House. As you can see I screwed the pallet roof boards to the trusses and it’s looking a lot more like a house. My next steps will be to put shingles on the roof, if I can find something suitable, or board up the front wall with milled pallet boards.
The Scrap House
The students building the scrap house are making great headway. This is a house being built out of free reclaimed stuff because their school budget got slashed. Instead of giving up these students got clever and decided to scavenge for free building materials. Continue Reading…

The Scrap House
I was so excited to see another free house under construction. There is so much construction waste around us I don’t know why more people don’t build free houses. Actually I do understand… it’s extremely time consuming. What you save in dollars you spend looking for stuff and cobbling together what you find.
But that doesn’t seem to be slowing down this group of students. Their school budget got slashed so instead of taking it lying down they are scavenging free building materials and building themselves a tiny house. I’ve been extremely impressed with their progress. This is another tiny house project definitely worth watching. Visit The Scrap House blog.
Tiny Free House – The Roof is Framed
Last Friday I got myself back up to the farm and my tiny free pallet house and framed the roof. I think I would have gotten a bit farther except I sprained my ankle at the beginning of the day and hobbled through the rest. I was a pretty funny sight standing up there on top of my ladder favoring my lame foot. My foot feels much better now and it’s really nice to have this major milestone complete. The next step will be to put the roofing on to provide a little protection form the elements while I work on the interior framing. Visit my project blog for the complete update, Tiny Free House.
