Here are some really cool shipping container homes being built in Costa Rica by a fellow names Jimmy Lee. His tiny houses come with a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom and have the added benefit of being earthquake, fire, and hurricane proof. Container Homes
This is a clever way to reuse an old shipping container. The original wall panels have been cut out and replaced with windows. I suspect this would not work in all climates but is definitely in innovate way to break free of the metal box aesthetic most shipping container homes seem stuck with.
IC Green is a company in California that is producing a range of great shipping container homes starting at 320 square feet. These shipping container homes have a modern aesthetic and feature green roofs, solar water heating and electricity and low flush toilets.
These are great little off-the-grid shipping container based tiny houses. Everything about these houses are about making the lowest environmental impact. The recycled and repurposed shipping container is just the begining, the houses use many reclaimed building materials. A good example of this are the floors which are made from recycled car tires.
